We are now recruiting for an accredited Community Mediator Training Course to be held in October 2017 in central West Sussex. This course will be free to those who can commit time to volunteering as a mediator with WSMS and help neighbours in dispute resolve their differences. The course is 40 hours in total, split over weekends. You will complete a portfolio for personal accreditation with Laser Learning (Open College Network). Our very experienced trainer will equip you with the skills to take on the role and you will undergo an induction session in our Horsham offices. Please note that the course will involve quite a lot of role playing.
All our mediators work in pairs. We provide ongoing training and support and reimburse travel expenses. We need individuals who can commit time to volunteering in the role. Whilst some of our work takes place in the daytime, many of our mediations take place during weekday evenings. We do not expect our volunteers to work at week-ends (apart from training).
Only 12 places will be available so don’t delay in securing your place, if you are interested. We would like to attract people from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have an Equal Opportunities policy. We cover the whole of West Sussex but volunteers can just work in their local area. We are particularly keen to recruit in Crawley, Mid Sussex, Worthing, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and Chichester.
