We are seeking to attract a Treasurer for our charity, to take over from our existing one from 1st April 2020.
We are a small but busy and worthwhile charity based in Horsham, West Sussex. We provide a range of mediation services for those suffering conflicts in their lives, many being free at the point of delivery. We use trained and accredited local volunteer mediators working in pairs. We specialise in resolving neighbour disputes and conflicts within families. We won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2019.
We looking for someone with some book-keeping/accounting experience. We work to a tight budget of only £90,000. We have in place an external examiner who approves our accounts each year (pro bono). As a trustee, you might get involved in project work from time to time e.g. business planning, funding strategy and implementation, risk assessment, etc. Our trustees are responsible for overseeing the governance of the charity. They have a duty to ensure compliance along with a duty of care and prudence. Trustee indemnity insurance cover is provided, plus induction training.
Would you like to ‘give something back’, enhance your own skills and CV, offer your existing skills to enhance the charity, meet new people and reap the wellbeing benefits of volunteering? Is so, do get in touch. You will see many similar adverts for trustees from many other great causes – many much better known than us, but you could make a real difference with us.
Trustees meet, formally, four times a year in January, April, July and October plus the AGM in September. The treasurer provides a update at these meetings and formally reports on ‘year end’ results at our AGM, plus helps set budgets annually. To find out more, just give us a call or drop us an email.
