Our very loyal and longstanding Caseworker, Pam Chatterton, has notified her desire to take retirement. We therefore will have a vacancy for her role. Pam joined WSMS back in 2006, having previously served with a small Mediation service. that no longer exists, called AIMS, based in Adur District.
The job involves the handling of referrals, from a variety of sources, in relation to neighbour disputes, family conflicts and various other situations. There is a lot of ‘negotiating’ over the phone with clients and liaison with various agencies and our large pool of volunteer mediators. Good communication and planning/organising skills are essential. Being trained in mediation skills is also desirable, but training could be provided.
The part-time role will be based in our offices at Park House, Horsham (we have no parking provision for staff). These offices are on the 1st floor of an old building with no lift facilities and a good number of stairs to negotiate, making if difficult for someone who have mobility issues.
